Thrifty Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (I use 1/2 c. Crisco and 1/2 c. margarine)
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. plain flour
    4 eggs
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla flavor
    1 tsp. lemon flavor
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0.
    Sift flour once, measure and add baking powder.
    Sift again.
    Put shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring in a large bowl of an electric mixer.
    On high speed, beat 2 1/2 to 3 minutes; then turn to low.
    Mix milk and flour, alternately, about 1/3 cup milk and flour at a time.
    Just mix long enough to get mixed good.
    Bake in a well greased and floured tube pan for an hour at 350\u00b0.
