Gumdrop Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. hot water
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 lb. gumdrops (whole or cut up - no blacks or purples)
1 lb. raisins
2 c. nuts (1/2 of them chopped finely)
1 c. flour
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
Mix applesauce, soda and water and add to creamed mixture.
Add flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, and mix well.
Then add gumdrops, raisins, nuts, and final 1 c. flour.
Mix well and bake in 9 inch tube pan at 350\u00b0 for 2 hours 15 minutes.
(Paper bottom and grease sides.)
Let cool a few minutes, then remove from pan.
This cake is just like fruitcake, but doesn't have the fruits.
