Cucumber Stick Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers, peel, remove seeds and cut into long strips
    2 c. lime
    12 medium onions, sliced
    5 bell peppers, sliced
    2 qt. white vinegar
    7 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt (plain)
    3 tsp. celery seed
    4 tsp. whole pickling spice
Preparation
    Mix lime in 2 gallons of water.
    Pour over cucumbers and soak 24 hours.
    Rinse well.
    Slice onions and bell peppers.
    Cover with ice water.
    Let stand for 3 hours and drain.
    Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seed and pickling spice.
    Pour over cucumbers; let stand overnight.
    Bring to a boil for 20 minutes; put in jars and seal.
