Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 broiler chicken
    2 qt. broth
    3 c. self-rising flour
    4 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Stew chicken until tender.
    Remove bones; cut into bite size pieces and return to broth.
    Cut shortening into flour.
    Add enough milk to make dough as for biscuits.
    Roll out to about 1/8-inch thickness.
    Cut in strips, then into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Drop a few at a time into boiling broth.
    Stir gently occasionally as dumplings are being added.
    Lower heat.
    Cover.
    Cook 5 to 8 minutes.
    Remove from heat and allow to set 2 hours.
    Broth will thicken.
