Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 to 15 medium cucumbers
    4 large white onions, sliced
    1 large green peppers, diced
    1/4 c. salt
    2 1/2 c. white vinegar
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers; slice about 1/4-inch thick.
    Combine first 4 ingredients.
    Let stand, uncovered, at room temperature for 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Combine remaining ingredients in large kettle; bring to a boil.
    Add drained vegetables; heat thoroughly, but don't boil.
    Pack at once into hot sterilized jars and seal at once.
