Scalloped Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. soft bread crumbs
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 lemon rind and juice
    3 c. apples, chopped
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Melt the butter and add the crumbs.
    Mix the sugar, spices and grated lemon rind.
    Put 1 quarter of the crumbs in bottom of a buttered baking dish.
    Cover with half the apples.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 the sugar mix, then add another 1/4 of the crumbs, the remainder of the apples and rest of the sugar mix.
    Add the lemon juice and the water and put the rest of the crumbs on top.
    Cover; bake 45 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Serve plain or with whipped cream.
