Madam Pele'S Pie (Ohelo) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 c. washed Ohelo berries
    8 oz. cream cheese
    1/2 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (9-inch) pie crust
    1/4 c. chopped Macadamia nuts
Preparation
    Blend sugar and cornstarch and add berries.
    Cook, stirring constantly until thick and clear.
    Cool.
    Beat cream cheese until soft and smooth.
    Blend in sugar and salt.
    Add eggs; stir well. Blend in milk and vanilla and stir well.
    Spread berry mixture over pie shell.
    Pour cream cheese mixture and nuts into pie shell.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Reduce oven to 325\u00b0 and bake 45 minutes.
    Cool and serve.
