Midnight Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and cream until fluffy.
Blend in well beaten eggs, slowly.
Add hot water to cocoa, and mix until smooth.
Stir to dissolve completely.
Sift flour, salt, soda, and baking powder together, and add to cream mixture alternately with hot water and cocoa mixture.
Blend in vanilla.
Pour into a 8-inch square pan; bake 30-55 minutes in a moderate oven 320-350\u00b0.
