Midnight Cake With Vanilla Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Crisco
    1/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. hot water
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend together Crisco and sugar until fluffy.
    Blend in eggs. In a saucepan heat water and then slowly add cocoa, stir until smooth.
    Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder.
    Add to the Crisco/sugar mix, alternating with the cocoa mixture. Blend in vanilla and mix well.
    Pour batter into an 8 x 8-inch square pan that has been greased and lined with wax paper.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
    Let cool before frosting.
