Date Tea Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. diced dates or whole dates, cut up
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Cut off and discard a one-inch slice from the top of fruit. Pencil a zigzag guideline around top of fruit.
    With a sharp knife, cut around fruit, following the line to form a zigzag edge. Using a spoon, scoop out pulp.
    Fill \"cup\" with any type of salad or dessert, such as orange mousse.
