Napfkuchen(Turban Cake) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 Tbsp. lemon peel
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. sugar, divided in half
    4 eggs, separated
    3/4 c. milk
    2 c. sifted flour
    2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Cream together butter, lemon peel, vanilla, 1/2 cup sugar and egg yolks.
    Add milk slowly.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Add 1/2 cup sugar.
    Add flour and baking powder to creamed mixture.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Turn batter into mold.
    Bake about 55 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    For variety, add 1/2 cup freshly ground poppy seeds or 1/2 cup rum soaked raisins.
