Cherry Surprise Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
    2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    14 red or green candied cherries, cut in half
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating well.
    Gradually add flour, beating until blended.
    Stir in vanilla and pecans.
    Cover and chill 1 hour.
    Shape dough around each cherry half to form a 3/4-inch ball.
    Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Roll in powdered sugar while warm.
    Cool on wire racks.
    Yield:
    28 cookies.
