Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    3 Tbsp. oleo
    3 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    12 large apples
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water and cinnamon.
    Bring to boil and boil for about 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat and add oleo.
    Set aside.
    Sift the remaining dry ingredients together.
    Cut in shortening until mixture crumbles.
    Add milk all at once and stir just until flour is moistened.
    On lightly floured surface, roll dough and cut into rectangles.
    Place apple on rectangle, add some cinnamon and dot with oleo.
    Bring dough up around apple.
    Place in ungreased baking pan.
    Pour syrup over dumplings.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
