Yum Yum Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (6 oz.) jello (orange flavor)
    1 (16 oz.) can crushed pineapple (undrained)
    3/4 c. granulated sugar
    2 c. cold water
    1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
Preparation
    Heat water and sugar to boiling point; add jello.
    Dissolve over heat.
    Add pineapple; refrigerate to thicken.
    Fold in Cool Whip; add cheese and nuts.
    Refrigerate to congeal.
    Serve on lettuce as salad.
    Cut in squares; top with cherries for dessert.
