Ingredients

6 eggs, separated
1 c. butter
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. coconut or vanilla extract
1 c. shortening (Crisco)
3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 c. milk
2 c. flaked coconut
Preparation

Cream and mix first 4 ingredients, using egg yolks only.
Add extract and at low speed, beat in flour and milk alternately.
Add coconut.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour in greased tube pan.
Bake 2 hours at 300\u00b0.
Cool 15 minutes in pan before removing.
Sprinkle with 4x sugar or ice, if desired.
