Cinnamon Apple Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 firm apples
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/3 c. red cinnamon candies
    red food coloring
Preparation
    Cut cored and pared apples into 1/2-inch rings.
    Cook all ingredients until apples are just tender.
    Chill.
    Instead of the cinnamon candies and red coloring, use 12 whole cloves and green coloring.
    Makes a nice showing at Christmas.
