Italian Tomato Meat Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    olive oil
    onion
    1/2 lb. beef chuck
    1/2 lb. pork shoulder
    7 c. tomatoes, sieved
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    3/4 c. tomato paste
Preparation
    Set out a large saucepan with tight fitting lid.
    Heat in saucepan 1/4 cup olive oil.
    Add and cook until lightly browned 1/2 cup chopped onion.
    Add and brown, turning occasionally, beef chuck and pork shoulder.
    Add slowly a mixture of 7 cups tomatoes, sieved, 1 tablespoon salt and bay leaf.
    Cover and simmer over low heat about 2 1/2 hours.
    Add tomato paste.
    Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, uncovered about 2 hours more, until thickened.
    Before serving remove bay leaf and meat.
