Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. squash
    onions
    green peppers
    red peppers
    garlic (if desired)
    1/3 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice squash in round portions.
    Add onions, green peppers, red peppers and garlic. Sprinkle with salt. Cover with 2 trays of ice and let set 3 hours.
    Drain real good.
    On stove, heat the vinegar, sugar, celery seed, mustard seed and turmeric.
    Add drained squash. Boil about 10 minutes. Seal in hot jars.
