5 c. sliced Spanish onions
1/4 c. butter
1 qt. water
1/4 tsp. sugar
3 cans beef broth
Preparation

Cook butter, sugar and onion until golden.
Add broth and water; simmer 45 minutes.
Top with garlic toast and cheese.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until toasted and cheese melts.
