Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. corn meal
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. baking powder
1 c. onions, chopped
1 1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. water
cooking oil

Preparation

First off, heat up about 1/2 inch of cooking oil to about 360\u00b0.
While it's heating, mix corn meal, baking powder and salt. Then add the onions.
Blend in milk and water, maybe adding a little corn meal, if necessary, until the dough is stiff enough to be handled.
Shape the dough into oblong thumb-size cakes and drop into the fat.
Turn them occasionally until well browned.
