Waldorf Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 ripe apples
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 c. chopped celery
    1/3 to 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1/2 c. mayonnaise
    lettuce
Preparation
    Cut apples after coring and paring, if skins are tough, into fairly large pieces.
    Some apples, like Cortlands, do not darken as quickly when cut for a salad.
    Add lemon juice, chopped celery and walnuts; toss to mix.
    Chill.
    Mix with mayonnaise for serving on a bed of lettuce.
    Chopped candied ginger also may be added to the salad.
