Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cake mix (yellow or white)
    2 small cans crushed pineapple, drained
    2 cans cherry or strawberry pie filling
    1 large box instant vanilla pudding (prepared as directed on box)
    2 cartons Cool Whip (12 oz.)
    pecans (optional)
Preparation
    Bake cake mix in two round cake pans.
    Break one cake into pieces and place in punch bowl.
    Layer 1/2 of pudding mix on cake pieces.
    Add layer of 1 can crushed pineapple (drained), 1 can pie filling and 1 container Cool Whip on top.
    Then place next cake on top (do not break) and repeat with layering of pudding, crushed pineapple, pie filling and Cool Whip.
    May add pecans.
