Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. sliced cucumbers
8 small onions, sliced
2 to 3 green peppers, sliced
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. celery seed
5 c. white vinegar
1/2 c. coarse salt
Preparation

Mix cucumbers, onions, peppers and salt.
Cover with cold water (ice if possible).
Let stand 3 hours.
Drain.
Bring vinegar and spices to boiling.
Add vegetables and simmer for just a few minutes.
Pack into hot jars, leaving 1/2-inch headspace. Adjust lids.
Process 5 minutes in boiling water bath.
