Italian Ice Cream - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream, softened
    1 jar green maraschino cherries, chopped and drained
    2 pkg. slivered almonds (2 3/4 oz. each)
    1 jar red maraschino cherries, chopped and drained
    1 c. cherry Herring or other cherry flavored liqueur
Preparation
    Melt butter in shallow baking pan.
    Add almonds, stirring to coat with butter.
    Lightly sprinkle almonds with salt.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden.
    Cool.
    Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl; stir well.
    Spoon into 9-inch square pan.
    Cover; freeze until firm.
    Makes about 12 servings.
