Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    2 eggs
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    3 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Add the melted shortening to the sugar, then drop in the eggs and beat until smooth.
    Stir soda into buttermilk and beat until foamy, then add to the sugar and eggs.
    Sift in the rest of the ingredients and stir to make a smooth fairly stiff batter.
    (Add a bit more flour, if necessary, to handle dough.)
    Roll out 1/3-inch thick on floured board and fry in hot fat at 350\u00b0 to 360\u00b0.
    Roll in sugar while warm.
