Old Fashioned Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 can (10 1/2 oz.) beef broth
    1 can tomato soup
    4 medium carrots, cut in 2-inch pieces
    8 small whole white onions
    4 medium potatoes, cubed
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    salt and pepper
    1/2 soup can water
Preparation
    In large heavy pan, brown meat in shortening.
    Pour off fat. Add soups, water and seasoning.
    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add remaining ingredients.
    Cover; cook 1 hour more or until tender.
    Stir now and then.
    Uncover and cook until desired consistency.
    Makes 6 servings.
