Cherry Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. oleo
    1 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. milk
    1 (16 oz.) can sour cherries, undrained, or 2 c. fresh cherries (with own juice)
Preparation
    Melt oleo in 9-inch pan.
    Mix 1 cup sugar, flour and baking powder; add milk and mix well.
    Pour over oleo.
    Do not stir. Pour cherries over batter.
    Do not mix.
    Sprinkle other 1/2 cup of sugar over batter.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 in preheated oven for 1 hour.
