Layer Or 24 Hour Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small head lettuce
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped red onion
    1 can sliced water chestnuts
    1 pkg. frozen peas
    mayonnaise
    sliced tomatoes
    2 kinds grated cheese
    crumbled, cooked bacon
    hard-cooked eggs, chopped
Preparation
    Place ingredients in layers in a low bowl and sprinkle a little salt and pepper as you go.
    Layer lettuce, green pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts and frozen peas.
    Press peas down tightly.
    Spread a layer of mayonnaise over all.
    Place slices of tomatoes on top of mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle with grated cheeses, then crumble cooked bacon and chopped hard-boiled eggs over top. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
