Easy Caramel Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 stick margarine
    1 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In a large skillet, combine margarine and sugar.
    Place over medium
    heat
    and
    cook, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and
    syrup
    is
    light
    golden brown.
    Add milk, stirring constantly.
    (The
    mixture
    will
    tend
    to
    lump,
    but becomes smooth with further cooking.) Cook over medium heat, stirring, until a small
    amount
    dropped into a small bowl of cold water forms a
    soft
    ball.
    Remove from heat.
    Add vanilla.
    Beat to almost
    spreading consistency.
    Spread on your favorite chocolate or yellow cake which has been cooled.
