Easy Beef Stroganoff - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. beef stew meat
    1/2 stick butter
    2 to 3 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 white onion, diced
    2 1/2 cans sliced mushrooms
    2 1/2 to 3 c. cold water
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown meat in skillet with butter.
    Season.
    When meat is brown; add flour and stir.
    Mix in onion.
    Add canned mushrooms with liquid and water.
    Stir.
    Bring to boil, cover, lower heat and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
    Check every so often to see when meat is ready.
    Keep stirring lightly so it will not burn.
    If liquid evaporates, add a little hot water.
    Sour cream may be added lastly, if desired.
