Lazy Woman'S Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. medium-size cucumbers
    2 to 3 Tbsp. alum
    2 to 3 Tbsp. pickling salt
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
Preparation
    Pack whole cucumbers into gallon jar.
    Add alum, pickling salt and pickling spices.
    Cover with apple cider vinegar.
    Place lid on jar.
    Let stand in a cool, dark place for 3 months (do not refrigerate).
    Take cucumbers out and slice.
    Sprinkle 6 to 8 cups sugar over cucumbers.
    Let stand until sugar melts.
    Pack into jars; cover with the syrup and seal.
    Do not heat.
