Fudge Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. margarine or butter
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    3/4 c. sugar
    2/3 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease bottom only of a square pan (8 x 8 x 2-inches) with shortening.
    Heat margarine and 1 package chocolate chips in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in remaining ingredients except nuts and 1/2 cup chocolate chips real hard with a wooden spoon until smooth.
    Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread in pan with a rubber spatula.
    Bake until the center is set, about 30 minutes.
    Cool completely; cut into 1 3/4 x 1 1/2-inch brownies.
    Store brownies tightly covered.
    Makes 20 brownies.
