Buffet Beef Cubes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. (1-inch) beef cubes
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    2 1/2 c. tomato juice
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sweet basil
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 bay leaf
    1 1/2 c. thinly sliced onions
Preparation
    Shake beef in bag with flour.
    Brown in electric or regular 10-inch fry
    pan.
    Combine next 7 ingredients and add to browned meat.
    Add onions and bay leaf.
    Cook.
    Simmer, covered, for 2 hours until tender and liquid is of gravy consistency.
    Serve over hot rice, seasoned with butter and parsley over buttered noodles or mashed potatoes.
    Discard bay leaf.
