Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, chopped
    4 stalks chopped celery
    2 cloves crushed garlic
    2 to 4 oz. olive oil
    6 carrots, sliced
    1 lb. bag Goya lentils
    28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
    salt and pepper to taste
    garlic powder to taste
    1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Soak lentils in large bowl overnight.
    Cover with water to soak.
    In large pot, saute onion, celery, and carrots in oil.
    Add soaked lentils in water, tomatoes, seasonings and sugar.
    Cook until lentils soften.
    Add water if too thick.
