Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs, separated
    1 c. buttermilk
    2/3 c. shortening
    3 c. flour
    1 c. jam
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and allspice
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks and jam.
    Beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating vigorously. Fold in egg whites, beaten.
    Put in greased lined pan.
    Use caramel icing on cake.
    Bake about 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
