Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 Tbsp. olive or salad oil
    1/3 c. dried split peas
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/4 tsp. pepper, oregano and basil
    1/8 tsp. seasoned salt
    1 pkg. onion soup mix (enough for 4 servings)
    6 c. boiling water
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 c. thinly sliced celery
    1/4 c. thinly sliced carrots
    1 c. elbow macaroni
    fresh Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    In a large saucepan or kettle, brown meat and pour off fat. Add peas, spices and onion soup mix.
    Stir in boiling water, tomato sauce and soy sauce.
    Cover and simmer 25 minutes.
