Ingredients

1 loaf Italian bread, cut in half lengthwise
3 pats butter
3/4 c. lean ground beef
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 Tbsp. minced onions
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
8 slices process American cheese
2 ripe tomatoes
Preparation

Spread the butter on first; spread mixture on cut side of bread.
Place cut side up on baking sheet pan.
Top with thin slices of ripe tomatoes.
Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 20 minutes.
Take out of oven.
Top with 8 slices of cheese until melted, about 5 minutes.
Cut into 8 pieces.
