Double Plain Cake With Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. sweet milk
    3/4 stick butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Pour the milk in a double boiler with water in the bottom boiler.
    Heat the milk until almost hot.
    Add the butter.
    Add the granulated sugar.
    Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Add the vanilla.
    Cook until the soft ball stage, then remove from the heat.
    Spread between the layers and on the top of the cake while still warm.
