Kentucky Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 stick oleo
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. coconut
    2/3 c. chopped nuts
    5 egg whites, beaten
Preparation
    Cream shortening, oleo and sugar; add egg yolks one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
    Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in two layers at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
