Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/4 c. water
    2 c. raisins
    2 c. grated carrots
    1 1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 Tbsp. soda
    2 2/3 c. flour
    1 lb. candied fruit
    1 pkg. dates
    2 c. nuts
    1 lb. cherries (1/2 green and red)
Preparation
    Boil sugar, water, raisins and carrots for 5 minutes.
    Add cloves, cinnamon, shortening, soda, flour and fruits.
    You may vary the amount of citron to your taste.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
