Caramels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. granulated sugar
dash of salt
2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. oleo
2 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
Preparation

Put sugar, salt and corn syrup into a large pan; bring to a boil and boil to firm ball stage, 245\u00b0, stirring occasionally. Gradually add milk and butter slowly, so that the mixture does not stop boiling at any time.
Continue to cook rapidly, stirring constantly to medium ball stage, 242\u00b0.
Remove from heat; add vanilla and nuts.
Stir well.
