French Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    2 tsp. salt
    3 c. flour
    2 c. warm water
    1 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl.
    Add salt and sugar.
    Stir in flour.
    Add enough flour to make dough thick enough to knead.
    Turn on floured board and knead 5 to 7 minutes.
    Place in greased bowl, turning to grease.
    Cover; let rise in warm place until double (about 1 to 1 1/2 hours).
    Punch down.
    Divide into 2 balls.
    Let rest on lightly floured board, covered, 5 minutes. Grease hands and cookie sheets.
    Shape into 2 long French loaves. Make diagonal slits in top with razor blade or sharp knife.
    Cover; let rise until double (1 1/2 hours).
    Bake in moderate oven.
    When lightly browned, remove from oven.
    Smooth over tops and sides of loaves, 1 slightly beaten egg white.
    Return to oven for 2 minutes.
