Do-Ahead And Chill Chocolate Angel Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 1/3 c. undiluted Carnation evaporated milk
    1/3 c. water
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 sq. melted unsweetened chocolate
    1 (10 to 12 oz.) angel food loaf cake
    2 Tbsp. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine sugar and cornstarch in a medium saucepan; mix to blend.
    Stir in Carnation and water.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to thicken.
    Stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg.
    Return egg mixture to saucepan.
    Continue cooking until mixture just comes to a boil and thickens.
    Stir in vanilla and chocolate.
    Cover surface of filling with wax paper; chill.
    Slice cake horizontally, making three layers.
    Fill and frost cake layers.
    Sprinkle nuts over top of cake.
    Chill several hours before serving.
