Ingredients

1 qt. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1/2 c. sugar
raisins (if desired)
Preparation

Place rice and milk in heavy saucepan.
Bring to a slight boil.
Cover over low heat.
After 1 hour, add sugar and vanilla. Raisins may be added, if desired, last 15 minutes of cooking. Stir often; cook until thick.
Careful, may scorch easily!
