Sour Cream Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. sour cream
    1/3 c. white syrup
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts
    1/4 c. chopped candied cherries
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients in saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring slowly until sugar melts.
    Then boil without stirring over medium heat to soft ball stage.
    Remove from heat.
    Let stand 15 minutes.
    (Do not stir.)
    Add vanilla; beat until it starts to lose its gloss, about 8 minutes.
    Add cherries and nuts.
    Pour into buttered pan.
