Grandma Fay'S Cake Donuts(1898-1974) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
6 c. sifted flour
dash of nutmeg

Preparation

Mix first four ingredients.
Sift flour and add baking soda and baking powder.
Mix into other ingredients and add vanilla and nutmeg.
Refrigerate dough overnight.
