Date Nut Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 stick margarine
    1 small can Carnation milk
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped
    1 c. pecans, chopped
Preparation
    Mix sugar, margarine, milk and dates in saucepan; cook until thick or makes a ball in cold water.
    Beat until it begins to get thicker.
    Add pecans and beat some more.
    When it gets so thick you cannot beat it, put in a damp cloth and roll it up.
    Let set for at least 2 hours, then slice into pieces.
