Texas Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 1/2 sticks butter or margarine
    7 eggs, separated
    5 c. cake flour (dredge fruit and nuts in additional 1/2 c. flour)
    2 oz. lemon extract
    corn syrup
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 Tbsp. warm wine or orange juice
    1 qt. chopped pecans
    1/2 lb. red candied cherries
    1/2 lb. green candied cherries
    1 lb. candied pineapple
Preparation
    Cream sugar, butter, egg yolks and lemon extract.
    Add flour and baking soda mixture.
    Mix well.
    Fold in fruit and nuts that have been dredged in flour.
    Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter.
