English Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 3 1/4 c. flour
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 c. warm water
    2 Tbsp. soft shortening
    cornmeal
Preparation
    In large
    bowl,
    combine
    1 1/4 cups flour, salt, sugar and yeast; mix well.
    Add the warm water and shortening.
    Beat 3 minutes
    at
    medium
    speed on mixer.
    By hand, gradually add remaining flour
    to make a firm dough.
    Knead on floured board until smooth
    and
    elastic, about 5 minutes.
    Place in greased bowl;
    cover
    and let rise until double.
    Punch down dough and roll out
    on
    lightly sprinkled cornmeal board.
    Cut into 3 or 4-inch
    circles.
    Cover;
    let
    rise
    until
    dough,
    about\t30 minutes.
    Bake
    on lightly oiled griddle or frypan at 325\u00b0 for about 8 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
    Makes 12 to 14.
