Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. yellow corn meal
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift corn meal and flour with baking powder, sugar and salt. Combine egg, milk and shortening.
    Pour milk mixture into dry ingredients all at once and stir quickly until mixture is smooth. Put into a greased 9-inch square pan.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
